Serenity Lighthouse was founded by Earl D. Erickson. It is an internet business he owns
and manages from his home. It was created to offer help and direction to his fellow
alcoholics, like himself, toward wellness and recovery from the horrible, deadly disease
of alcoholism. It primarily operates as a resource and referral center.
Serenity Lighthouse means guidance, support, serenity, and peace to all recovering
alcoholics and addicts.
Serenity Lighthouse, also, sells merchandise, such as, books, DVDs, videos and movies,
CDs, mugs, t-shirts and other apparel, sobriety and twelve step gifts, health and personal
products and a variety of items relating to the awareness and recovery of alcoholism.
Mr. Erickson is a grateful, recovering alcoholic. He achieved sobriety on July 4th, 2003. He
claims Independence Day as his independence from alcohol. From then on, the Fourth
of July has a newfound meaning in his life, besides the traditional holiday it stands for.
On his calendar, it is marked "Alcoholism Awareness Day."
By witnessing the tragic and horrible disease of alcoholism that claimed the life of his
brother, Mark, he was inspired to write his brother's story and share it with his readers.
It all began, when Mr. Erickson wrote his brother's obituary in the local newspaper. He
received an enormous amount of e-mail from people who read the obituary. It created
so much interest among its readers, it caught the eye of a news reporter from the same
local newspaper.
The news reporter interviewed Mr. Erickson and wrote a story on the obituary that brought so
much attention and reaction from its readers. The article was published three weeks after
his obituary appeared.
Mr. Erickson has placed his brother's obituary on his website to share with others to read.
